Burundian Independence Day – Shepparton

Drums and song resonated right throughout your entire body and your soul as did the happiness and peace in and around the Burundian community on Saturday as Shepparton celebrated Burundian Independence Day at the African House. It was amazing.
We are blessed to share in these experiences. Thank you to the community and to Multicultural Arts Victoria

This was very much the message of the day “Love is the basis of everything. With love anything is possible”

As you look at these pictures you may like to listen to this piece that I found on soundcloud recorded a few years ago. It is nothing near as powerful as being there and hearing in person and feeling the beat rumble through the floor and up through your body but it may give you a little taste.

And if you are anything like me and didn’t know where Burundi is – look at the circle on this map
