What better way to bring people together than with food?
A little spot on St. Georges Rd in Shepparton where we have a unique set of shops was closed for a food festival on Sunday 18th May with foods from around the world, gathering of all peoples combined with music, henna, hair braiding and a soccer match to finish made a great day out in Shepparton. Many more people came than was expected and some vendors ran out of food. It was the first time this festival had been held and I am sure it won’t be the last. For many people it was the first time they’d tried these foods or met the traders from St. Georges Rd shops and people are talking about it throughout the town. I bet there are many more people shopping in St Georges Rd now.
Congratulations to everyone involved. It’s events like this that make me realise how culturally rich this town is and what a gift that is to my family and I. Thank you.
At the bottom of this blog post you will find a film by Jaiman, my 15 year old son from I Am Jaiman. It was great to work side by side – Jaiman filming and me photographing, both commissioned by Greater Shepparton City Council.
We hope you enjoy a little look at the day through our eyes.
