From many lands they came – some just a few months ago, some almost a year ago. Most had no English at all and for some this was there first time at school. Together they met at the Shepparton English Language Centre. Friendships were formed and they became like a family experiencing new things together in a new land. This week many students graduated from SELC celebrating and sharing deeply from their hearts. They will be moving on to a variety of high schools in the area and some to other places but the bond between them will be always there.

For me to hear the students words grow from just a few to many, to listen to them read with joy and see their confidence build is hugely inspiring. Congratulations to you all. Getting to know the students at SELC has made it one of the best years of my life. I have learnt so much and done so much that I would never have done before knowing these students. Thank you to all of you.
I look forward to sharing a documentary film on this amazing centre, this ‘family’ sometime in the future after many more months of filming.
We sort of ignored this rule and I am sure that was ok 🙂
They say, “Thank you”
“Thanks to You” they sang
From their hearts they shared
And the tears flowed, both happy and sad but Miss Noella came to the rescue with a giant hankie
Mr Hucker shared a tea story for Miss Anna’s farewell.
The three cups of tea – first cup of tea she was a stranger, the second cup of tea she becomes a friend and third she is now like family.
